Rift News: Rift Prime Pi-Day Patch Edition

The forums have been filled with a lot of discussion for Rift Prime, and a lot of dev posts about found bugs, issues, discrepancies, and requested changes.  It’s a lot, so here I am today to collect a lot of this into one post and summarize it.  Let’s check it out.

Summary

  • Incoming Beastmaster change – Tanky pet
  • Mystic Archer’s Elemental Barrage disabled
  • Bind on Equip mounts will be dungeon drops
  • Level 50 HK is being looked at, but will be a big undertaking to restore
  • Personal Loot rolls per dungeon boss will be increased for all dungeons, with lower level dungeons receiving more than the rest
  • The team is looking into applying an AFK timer, this requires a patch though.  This is NOT guaranteed right now.
  • A sigil of valor bug will be resolved involving zone event loot
  • Low level PvP vendors will be making a return
  • 14 new Carnage Quests will be added to Silverwood, bringing the zone up to par with Freemarch
  • Bosses in Darkening Deeps, Foul Cascade, and Deepstrike Mines will be getting a nerf bat to put the in line with the intended difficulty.

Beastmaster Tanky pet:

Captain Cursor mentioned on the March 9th live stream that the Warrior Beastmaster pet “Primal Companion” will become a “Primal Sabertooth” and will get tanking features.  Talk starts at 18:10 into the live stream recording.  Mention of the tank pet starts at 18:55. (Video below)

 

Elemental barrage disabled:

Elemental Barrage had the unfortunate side effect of making Mystic Archers gods in dungeons. The real gods objected, and Devs are reviewing.

NOTE: There is no guarantee for a fix by Wednesday, but this is good info to know.

Level 50 Hammerknell Keep

BigDataDude is working to programmatically repair the data for level 50 Hammerknell, which needs to be completely reworked in order to be active again.  He has detailed a lot about the process on the forums (see the link for a LOT more detail).

Personal Loot in dungeons:

Lower level dungeons will allow many more free runs per day, tapering off as the dungeon levels increase. So, for example – IT and RF will allow for 5 runs each per day. DD/DM 4 each, and so on.

The rate of gear from personal loot will double.

additionally, an IRC will be a reward option from turning in crafting dailies (yes, including the gathering professions and survival, but not fishing).

AFK timers and the long queues:

The Dev team is discussing application of an AFK timer, but this action will require a full on patch, so cannot be implemented before this Wednesday. The team will evaluate if this is still needed at that time.

Sigil of Valor bug:

When i try to turn in a sigil of valor it tells me i dont have it. its in my bag.”

the Sigils on Prime are different than Live (the ones on Prime are uncapped). So the whole system is a vertical clone of the Live system. Unfortunately, I missed the Zone Event rewards table on Prime – it is still giving the Live version.

I will add a conversion option on the turn in NPC for next patch.

Low level PvP Vendors:

“Did they remove all the low level pvp vendors? I remember there being some but there aren’t any to be found…

Is it possible to bring them back? Unlike live, we can’t purchase favor gear/weapons through the store and while leveling through pvp is fun, it’ll be hard to stay geared… what’s the point of Favor?”

One aspect of under-leveled while questing:

CaptainCursor wanted me to let folks know that there will be FOURTEEN new carnage quests active in Silverwood as of next Wednesday’s patch.

If any Defiants start to raise eyebrows, it’s just to bring Silverwood in line with what ye already have!
