FAQ

Q: How do I setup Telarafly?

A: Download the latest release from the link above, and extract it using 7zip. After extracting, edit the file “telarafly.cfg” and change the ASSETS_DIR and ASSETS_MANIFEST to point to your current Rift installation.  As of release 0.0.14, you can also run the new telarafly-configure application.

Q: Does this require an account to run?

A: No account of any kind is necessary to run Telarafly.  Just an installation of Rift.

Q: Is this a fan-made Rift client?

A: No! This is an offline only model and world viewer.

Q: Does this let me see quest locations, mob locations, puzzles, etc.?

A: No.  Most terrain and world geometry for each zone is defined client-side.  However, all mobs, quests, NPCs, and anything that you can interact with (including puzzles) is handled by the Rift servers only.

Q: Why do things look different than when I play Rift?

A: Rift has a different way of generating lights, and has proper shaders for things like reflections and glow effects that our client simply cannot reproduce.  It is unlikely that assets within Telarafly will ever look 100% like Rift.

Q: What are the controls?

A: In world flythrough mode:

  • W – Move forward
  • A – Strafe left
  • S – Move backward
  • D – Strafe right
  • Q – Increase elevation
  • E – Decrease elevation
  • M – Open map
  • Mouse – look around
  • Shift – move faster
  • Alt – move slower
  • F10 – Take screenshot
  • F – Enter “Fly” mode

“Fly Mode” Controls

  • Left mouse – use this to rotate around your view around the mount
  • Right mouse – control the direction the mount is moving in
  • Scroll wheel – zoom in/out on the mount
  • Left ALT + Scroll wheel – depending on the reference point, some mounts may be too high or low from the reference point, use this to change that reference point up/down

Q: Is this supported by Trion?

A: No, Trion does not provide support in any way for Telarafly.  If you have any questions or find issues, please report them to the github page on the link above, or talk straight to the dataminers behind it over on The Ghar Station discord.

Q: Ok then, is this authorized by Trion?

A: Yes.  Trion has given us permission to release this software for personal use.
